Netherlands Railway plans to run on 100% Wind Power by 2018!
Over in the Netherlands, the Dutch railway network has embarked on a huge project to reduce the amount of fossil fuels used to power their train network.
Earlier this year, they started the move away from fossil fuels and have already managed to power the network by wind power on 50% of the railway, and they’re just getting started.
An agreement signed in May means that all power suppliers and rail companies are contracted to run entirely on sustainable and renewable energy by 2018.
The terms of the contract state that the wind power cannot be taken from existing sources, meaning that there is going to be huge investment by the power companies into wind technology which is a step in the right direction for saving our beloved planet.
We just hope that the rest of the world takes note and follows suit.
